Student Pastor - Misty Howick

Let me start by saying that I am so happy to be working with everyone here at Morristown United Methodist Church as your new Student Intern. My husband, Jeff and I moved to Madison New Jersey in September 2008 so that I could begin my Masters of Divinity program at Drew Theological School. We have been married for two years and love every minute of it! Jeff is the Master of planning fun and exciting places to visit and we spend most of our weekends travelling, hiking, picnicking or going on other fun adventures. I was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona. The desert has beautiful sunsets and wonderful thunderstorms in the summer. However I love the rain and seasons that New Jersey has to offer. I graduated college from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor’s degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. I love science and the outdoors. I think being in God’s creation is a perfect place to reflect on one’s spirituality and relationship to God and the World. In Tucson I earned my Teaching Certificate to teach Biological Science to 7th-12th graders. Instead of staying in Tucson, I decided to become an Outdor School Instructor in California for Lutheran Retreats Camps and Conferences. I fell in love with my husband there, but also Camp and Retreat Ministries. After working there for about a year, Jeff and I moved back to Tucson where I gladly accepted a job working as a Youth Director for Desert Skies UMC. So you see, I love working with children and youth and I love the outdoors. I am excited to learn a lot here, especially with Jack Scharf as I delve into Adult Christian Education, a topic I am interested in learning more about. Thank you for accepting my husband and me into your loving family.
