Morristown United Methodist Church has a history of a strong music ministry. There are five vocal choirs ranging from pre-Kindergarten through adults, one handbell choir, and two concert series (Abendmusik and Music at Noon). The church has a 53-rank Austin pipe organ and a 7'4" grand piano in the sanctuary. The sanctuary has especially wonder acoustics for music. For more information on each of our choirs, please refer to the menu under Music heading.

Chancel Choir -- Adults

 Rehearsals Thursday evenings 7:30 - 9:30 PM

The Chancel Choir is comprised of adults who provide music for each Sunday morning service and other special worship services throughout the year. In addition to this, the Chancel Choir presents two major works a year with instrumental ensembles; one at Christmas and one in the spring. Some of the major works they have performed have included the “Requiems” of Mozart, Rutter, and Durufle, the Bach “Magnificat” and the Stravinsky “Symphony of Psalms”. The April 23, 2005 Chancel Choir performance of the Mozart “Requiem” on the Abendmusik concert series garnered the following review from the Classical New Jersey Society: Robert Butts wrote "the performance and work evoked one word: 'Glorious'... the chorus was undoubtedly the star..." The Chancel Choir is under the direction of June Van Thoen, Director of Music Ministries. Our organist is Jackson Borges.
